The latest Liminal Index Report recognizes Identomat among 22 leading KYC vendors evaluated against the evolving demands of financial crime compliance.
KYC is entering a new phase.
For years, the industry focused on making identity verification faster, more accurate, and easier to integrate. Today, those expectations remain fundamental - but they are no longer enough.
Financial institutions and regulated businesses are facing a more complex identity environment shaped by synthetic identities, deepfakes, AI-generated documents, increasingly sophisticated fraud, and regulatory expectations that extend beyond the point of onboarding.
At the same time, buyers are looking for fewer disconnected tools and more integrated compliance infrastructure.
Liminal’s 2026 Know Your Customer (KYC) Financial Crimes Compliance Index captures this shift - and places Identomat among the vendors leading the market forward. Out of 82 vendors evaluated, Liminal identified 22 Leading Vendors that met its minimum thresholds for both product execution and strategy. Identomat is among them.
A KYC Market Being Reshaped by AI, Fraud, and Continuous Compliance
The 2026 Index paints a clear picture: the KYC market is moving away from isolated identity checks toward a more continuous, intelligence-driven approach to customer risk.
Synthetic identities, deepfakes, and AI-generated documents are challenging traditional onboarding controls. Liminal reports that customer-data-to-document mismatches account for 60% of manual-review triggers, while failed biometric or liveness checks account for 48%. These are precisely the weaknesses that increasingly sophisticated identity fraud attempts seek to exploit.
The operational burden is equally significant.
More than 83% of banks review over 10% of their KYC cases manually, with most teams spending more than 30 minutes on each case. Meanwhile, the share of banks operating four or more KYC vendors has roughly doubled year over year, highlighting the growing complexity and fragmentation of compliance stacks.
And the direction of travel is becoming increasingly clear.
98.8% of banks surveyed have already deployed, are deploying, or plan to deploy perpetual KYC within the next 12 months. At the same time, 87% now prefer a one-stop or broad financial crime compliance platform over specialized point solutions.

The implication is significant: modern KYC is no longer simply about verifying a person once. It is becoming an ongoing layer of identity, fraud, and risk intelligence.
22 Vendors Leading the KYC Market in 2026
Against this backdrop, Liminal evaluated 82 vendors solving the KYC use case across product and strategy criteria.
Only 22 vendors met the thresholds required to be classified as Leading Vendors. The leadership framework required a minimum 60% product execution score and a 76% strategy score.
Identomat is proud to be included among this group alongside some of the most established names in identity verification, fraud prevention, and financial crime compliance.
What Buyers Expect From Modern KYC Solutions
As KYC becomes increasingly central to both customer onboarding and ongoing risk management, the criteria for choosing a verification provider are becoming more demanding.
According to Liminal’s 2026 research, compliance alignment and data quality rank as the top purchasing criteria for KYC solutions, with 94% of KYC practitioners rating each as either important or very important. Scalability and ease of implementation follow closely, each reaching 93%, while analytical capabilities, end-customer experience, accuracy, pricing, internal user experience, and automation also rank highly.
These priorities reflect a broader shift in how organizations evaluate KYC technology. A solution is no longer judged only by whether it can verify an identity. Buyers increasingly need technology that can support regulatory requirements, work reliably across markets, scale with growing volumes, integrate efficiently, and deliver accurate decisions without creating unnecessary friction.
Other priorities remain high:
- Accuracy: 88%
- Pricing: 88%
- Automation: 87%
- Internal user experience: 84%

These numbers highlight a clear shift: organizations are looking for KYC platforms that combine strong compliance and data quality with scalability, accuracy, automation, and a seamless customer experience - not simply a tool that verifies an identity.
Where Identomat Fits Into the New KYC Landscape
Liminal describes Identomat as an AI-powered KYC platform combining identity verification, fraud prevention, and compliance automation in a configurable solution.
Identomat brings together document verification, biometric authentication, database checks, AML screening, proof of address, risk assessment, and workflow automation. Its identity verification capabilities include OCR-based document extraction, NFC-enabled ID verification, facial recognition, and video-based liveness detection.
This breadth is increasingly important as the KYC market moves toward more integrated compliance infrastructure. Rather than treating verification, fraud prevention, and compliance as isolated stages, organizations need to connect identity and risk signals across the customer journey and apply the appropriate level of verification based on risk.

The Next Chapter of KYC
The future of KYC will not be defined by a single verification check or a single technology.
It will be defined by how effectively organizations combine identity intelligence, biometrics, fraud signals, risk assessment, compliance screening, automation, and ongoing monitoring - while keeping the customer experience as seamless as possible.
Liminal’s 2026 Index reflects this evolution. Its research shows that buyers are increasingly prioritizing accuracy, automation, analytics, continuous KYC, and platform consolidation, while emerging technologies such as agentic identity are beginning to shape the next generation of compliance operations.
