How it works

AML Screening in 4 Steps

Score matches

Choose scoring methods and tune thresholds to control sensitivity and false positives.
Step 3

Decide

Apply your process and decision logic to approve, reject, or route cases for review.
Step 4

Monitor

Run on-demand checks or enable automated ongoing monitoring for continuous compliance.
Models

Monitoring models

Run a secure live video verification session with an agent and the customer (two-party), or verify multiple participants in a single call (multi-party) - while keeping the same compliance-grade checks, evidence capture, and audit trail.

Use UI or API to investigate suspicious users fast without changing your core flow.
Scoring

Match scoring you can control

Identomat supports multiple scoring approaches so you can align screening behavior to your regulatory and operational needs.

Logic-v1 (rule-based)

Deterministic rules with phonetic + fuzzy matching, plus support for identifiers (e.g., IMO, ISIN, LEI, OGRN, INN) and penalties when supporting info differs (country, DOB, gender, address).

Name-based / Name-qualified

Name-based uses Jaro-Winkler + Soundex for aggressive name matching (useful when only names are available), while name-qualified penalizes mismatches in DOB/nationality (individuals) or registration/tax identifiers (companies).

Regression-v1 / Regression-v2

Logistic-regression scoring across many features; strongest when you include multiple attributes (DOB, nationality, address, tax identifiers). Produces high scores mainly for multi-attribute matches (e.g., name + DOB or ID number).

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the product and billing.
What is AML screening and why is it required during customer onboarding?
AML screening is the process of checking individuals or companies against sanctions lists, PEP databases, adverse media, and other regulatory watchlists. It is required to prevent financial crime, comply with AML regulations, and reduce exposure to sanctioned or high-risk entities during onboarding and ongoing relationships.
What’s the difference between AML screening and ongoing AML monitoring?
AML screening is typically performed at onboarding or during periodic reviews. Ongoing AML monitoring continuously rescreens customers over time to detect new risks, such as newly issued sanctions, PEP status changes, or adverse media hits, ensuring continuous compliance after onboarding.
How does Identomat reduce false positives without missing real AML risks?
Identomat allows you to control match scoring through configurable thresholds and multiple scoring models. By tuning sensitivity and penalizing mismatched attributes, teams can reduce noise while still identifying true risk signals that require review.
What data sources and watchlists are included in Identomat AML screening?
Identomat screens against thousands of global datasets, including sanctions lists, PEPs, adverse media, regulatory watchlists, criminal entities, debarment lists, and maritime-related sanctions. Data is refreshed frequently to ensure up-to-date screening results.
Can AML screening be integrated into existing KYC and onboarding flows?
Yes. AML screening can be embedded directly into the same KYC flow, using inputs from identity verification or officer-provided data. Results, alerts, and decisions are centralized, keeping onboarding efficient while meeting compliance requirements.
What operational setup is needed to use AML screening and monitoring?
AML screening is implemented via API and configured around your workflows. Teams define scoring rules, decision paths, and monitoring modes, while alerts and reports support compliance reviews and audits with minimal manual effort.
